Snapshot One: My Name

I chose Snapshot One: My Name because I think it was my best written piece. I enjoyed writing it because unlike the other two snapshots this one was more creative and the others followed a set path. Plus i think this piece has better metaphors in it since this was our first writing with them.

Snapshot One: My Name

My name in English means god’s peace. This suits my personality like a rubber glove because I’m laidback and I lean more towards a pacifist when it comes to conflicts. Written backwards it spells Yeroc, which means nothing, but it sounds Russian. It is calm midnight waves that float you back to shore by morning. Core, the lazy version, is achieved by removing the Y and leaving behind the base of my name. This is really my only nickname and I seem to of gotten lucky that it has no negative variations. My name has a few different spellings but always come out sounding the same. It is misspelled as if you had to buy a vowel, and they unfortunately could not afford an E.

My name is fairly unique and does seem to fit me quite well. I do however prefer my middle name, James, because it has a better ring to it. Also because the Y on the end of Corey makes it sound young as if it were a name only to be given to infants. My parents named me after Corey Pavin, the pro golfer, because my dad loved golf and it sounded good with my last name Carson.

Which brings me to my last name, Carson, meaning son of marsh dwellers. I’m not sure who decided on that because it is majestic when pronounced. It has the potential of Einstein, but without the effort will always fall short.

I like the way my first, middle, and last name stream together making it nearly flawless. I’ll keep my name that sounds like who I am. Yes. Something like Corey will do.

  2. I like how you gave the definition of what all three of your names are in other languages. That's really cool that you know that. That's good that you like your name! I HATE my middle name.

  4. "God's Peace" that's pretty sweet. We both have in common that we are both very laid back and just kinda go with the flow.
